Outreach
Pitt Pirates are a brightly visible ambassador for FIRST across North Carolina by making STEM relevant to kids, starting more FIRST teams East of 95, encouraging more females to pursue a career in STEM, and providing assistance to FIRST teams locally and globally. By partnering with over 20 businesses and organizations in our community, we have been able to promote STEM in Eastern North Carolina.
We live up to the ideals of FIRST by taking every opportunity to present and share the message of FIRST. Almost every week you can find us helping, sharing, or presenting to kids of all ages. For the DEEP SPACE season, we volunteered for over 2,500 hours in the community.
FIRST
We have assisted, started, mentored and/or funded FIRST teams at all levels - FLL Jr/FLLExplore, FLL, FTC, FRC and Global.
Global
We have taken RoboxSumo, LEGOs and STEM kits around the globe to promote science, engineering, and FIRST.
Girls in STEM
We believe in empowering girls to pursue paths in STEM. We do this through recruitment, hosting all-girls events, running a SWENext Chapter, and being #FIRSTLikeAGirl Ambassadors.
STEM in our Community
We have forged partnerships with local and regional schools, science centers, and after-school programs to offer a variety of STEM programs. This is a sampling of what we offer: hands-on science activities, LEGO camps, RoboxSumo events, and Engineering Clubs.
