After 6 weeks of hard work, power tools, and laughter, we only have 2 more days until the end of build season.

The team has been using the last week to wrap up final preparations. The programming team has been busy working on the code and testing it on the robot. Design has been gathering information on inventory and building material cost, and engineering could be seen priming the robot for competition. The sound of a working robot is music to our ears.

Safety has been busy working on the safety binder. Marketing has updated the team’s sponsors. Reed Wolfley, an ECU videographer, took his own time to visit the Marketing team at the shop! He shared invaluable tips and tricks for capturing insightful video. The rest of the night was spent with cameras recording clips to showcase the shop’s atmosphere.

We welcomed the start of competition season with scouting practices on Saturday. In small groups, team members were each assigned a robot to observe and watched a Week 0 New Hampshire scrimmage stream. These scouting skills will be vital to best choose robots that work in harmony with ours if (cross your fingers) our team becomes an alliance leader.

MaynePharma visited the shop to present us with a very generous donation! We could not have the impact we do without our sponsors!

On Sunday, we had a fire drill. Team members hurried out to our meeting place, the light by Elm Street, to wait until the roll was called and the “fire” was put out. We are happy to say that everyone was accounted for, and the drill went smoothly. We are assured that if a real accident were to happen, our procedures would keep us out of harm's way.

All through the last week, we have been working with the PiRates FTC team 13735. We are so proud of them for earning multiple awards and a spot at States the first weekend in March, but mostly for their unwavering spirits and hard work. Good luck at States!

The PiRates were not the only team to grace our shop this week; Technical Assassins also stopped by. Team 3796 gained assistance from our mentors and team leaders who helped them assemble their robot and write successful drive and elevator code. Thank you for coming!

Everyone is excited about reveal night tomorrow. We have received our new 2019 Destination Deep Space shirts. They look awesome! But no peeking; you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see the design.

The countdown is almost over. Let competition season begin!
